SÍLA {PRIVACY}

Last updated: 2026-01-01

This Privacy Policy describes how Sila (the App) handles information.

Summary

The App uses iCloud / CloudKit for syncing and shared features. The App may request access to Photos so you can choose a background image. The App may request permission for Notifications (local notifications) to alert you about important updates. The App does not sell your data and does not use data for advertising tracking.

Information the App Processes

iCloud / CloudKit (feature functionality)

If you are signed into iCloud, the App stores and syncs data through CloudKit, which may include:

In‑app identifier (a numeric user ID used inside the App). City information you choose to save (e.g., city name and coordinates). Custom Athkar collection you create (stored as JSON for sync). Athkar messages you choose to post (text + timestamp).

The post messages are intended to be temporary; the App performs best‑effort deletion of older messages (e.g., ~24 hours) from CloudKit. Moderation / safety fields (e.g., report counters or ban status).

This data is used to provide the App’s core functionality (sync, prayer time and Qibla, messages features).

Location (optional)

If you grant Location permission, the App may use your device location to calculate prayer times accurately for your area. Help determine Qibla direction. Detect / save your city selection for convenience.

You can deny Location permission, the App can still work with manual city input (feature availability may vary).

Notifications (optional)

If you allow notifications, the App may schedule local notifications (for example, prayer times and reminders). The App may register for remote notifications to support CloudKit subscription updates (including silent background updates).

Photos (optional)

If you choose to add a photo, the App processes the image you select and stores it on your device for display in the App.

Data Sharing

The App uses CloudKit as the backend for syncing and shared features. Data stored in CloudKit is processed and stored by Apple as part of iCloud/CloudKit.

The App does not share data with third‑party advertisers.

Data Retention

Local data (notification preferences, manual prayer time offsets, and your selected photo) are stored on your device. CloudKit data is retained as needed to provide app functionality. You can delete the photo from within the App. Other CloudKit data retention may depend on Apple iCloud behavior and the App’s CloudKit records.

Your Choice

You can change Location permissions in iOS Settings. You can change notification permissions in iOS Settings. You can change photo permissions in iOS Settings. You can disable iCloud for the App in iOS Settings to stop CloudKit syncing.
